Presentació Garafía

Elías Taño
Fri, 2021-12-17 19:00 - Mon, 2022-01-17 20:30

Last year, in March, Elías Taño mounted an exhibition that, due to the confinement, no one could visit. As we do not like to leave things behind, and we love Elías and everything he does, this Friday we will try again.

"Next Friday the 17th we will present 'Garafía' in Fatbottom, bcn. Starting at 7:00 p.m. There will also be a small sample of the process, sketches, and other drawings, engravings and silkscreens. My dear Alba Soprano will accompany me, and between the 2 of us and you, will unravel the history of migration, class struggle and resilience that hides the pages of this graphic novel. We are waiting for you all, always together "

Stories of those who leave and those who stay. Pieces of life intertwined with force to a collective history. That of dignity, that of a perpetual, immemorial struggle, not to bend our heads and look hard at the horizon. Garafia is a mountainous region in the northwest of the island of La Palma, in the Canary archipelago. A land that in the 40s and 50s of the 20th century experienced an important migratory exodus to Venezuela. It was a troubled time, with two complementary stories: those who left and those who stayed.
